Buckling, Prebuckling and Vibration of Stiffened and Unstiffened Shells

Abstract

The stability and vibrations of stiffened and unstiffened shells and panels under axial compression are studied. The thermal buckling of shells under combined mechanical load and heating is also investigated. The studies include theoretical and experimental work, with emphasis on correlation between vibrations and buckling. Eccentricity of loading is also considered. Methods for nondestructive determination of buckling loads for bars, plates and shells are developed. A new incremental theory for the nonlinear elasto-plastic behavior of structures has been developed and is applied to some problems. The influence of initial imperfections on vibrations and stability is also studied.
