Applied Research and Engineering on Coatings for Noise Damping.

Abstract

The report describes research and development studies on a broad-temperature damping system known as 'Silent Paint'. Materials capable of effective damping over the temperature range of -20C to +60C were developed and optimized. Research was undertaken on both acrylic and poly(vinyl chloride) based damping materials. Damping theory and polymer structure are discussed in relation to performance.
