FM-CW Laser Radar at 10.6 Microns.

Abstract

The feasibility of a continuous-wave frequency-modulated radar with a CO2 laser as a transmitting source was investigated. A developmental system was constructed and tested and the feasibility of an optical radar using coherent detection at 10.6 micrometers was demonstrated. The radar had the capability of instantaneous range and velocity determination.
