Simulation Data Analysis Using Continuous Time Markov Processes.

Abstract

This paper illustrates the use of continuous time Markov processes as a basis for analyzing the results of discrete event digital simulations. In particular, the paper describes how judicious use of bit packing enables a user to write an otherwise lengthy state description in concise form for convenient use within an ongoing program. It also describes a procedure for selecting which among the many possible regeneration states allows a user to collect data most efficiently for analysis.
