The Structure and Properties of Crystalline Polymers at High Pressures.

Abstract

A research program directed toward an understanding of the crystal structure, morphology, and properties of crystalline polymers under conditions of high pressure is being established. X-Ray techniques for the study of polymers at high hydrostatic pressures have been developed, and some initial data are presented. Crystallization of high-density polyethylene (Marlex 6009) at high pressures in a piston-cylinder apparatus has been carried out, and dynamic mechanical tests of some samples have been made.
