Mathematical Methods Applied to Ocean Surface Topography and Satellite Geodesy.

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of research carried out at Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory during the period 1 June 1972 through 30 June 1974. Emphasis is given to topics of investigation for the period 1 July 1973 through 30 June 1974. A fundamental problem with the mathematical method encompassed is identified, and a modified approach of spherical sampling discussed.
