Comparison of Asset Return Forecasting Techniques.
Abstract
The problem addressed is the forecasting of returns of unserviceable items for depot overhaul. Three forecasting techniques and associated base periods are compared based upon the total error each produces. Data on Army Materiel Plan Part I major items were used for the comparisons. No changes to present AMC procedures are recommended, although two promising aspects should be pursued when more data is available. Additionally, the effect of reducing the forecast for planning is investigated.
