Ultrasoft X-Ray Bragg and Specular Reflection: The Effects of Anomalous Dispersion.

Abstract

The objective of this work has been twofold: first, to test a method for quantitatively predicting the atomic scattering factors in the sensitive, anomalous dispersion, low energy x-ray region as based upon semi-classical dispersion theory in which theoretical and experimental partial photoionization cross sections have been used to obtain the required energy dependent oscillator strength densities; and second, to apply these scattering factors, with models for summing atomic, coherent scattering effects for the solid state, to predict the Bragg and specular reflection properties of practical crystal and mirror systems for the ultrasoft x-ray region.
