Superconducting-Cavity Stabilized Oscillators of 6 x 10 to the minus 16th power Stability.

Abstract

X-band microwave oscillators stabilized with superconducting niobium cavities with loaded Q's of about 10 to the 10th power achieved short-term frequency stabilities as low as (sigma sub y) = 6 x 10 to the minus 16th power and typical long-term fractional frequency drifts of plus or minus 2 x 10 to the minus 13th power per day.
