Human Behavior in Problem Solving Environment.

Abstract

The major purpose is to study human behavior in problem solving environments involving the use of computers. It was assumed that a major deterrent to effective use of computer technology in problem solving was the lack of knowledge concerning the interaction between man and machine. By giving structure to this aspect of problem solving behavior and studying it experimentally, it was felt that knowledge useful in the design and development of decision support systems could be obtained. While the study of user behavior was a consistent theme of work accomplished and resulted in some fundamental additions to knowledge, the largest part of the effort was devoted to developing the computer systems technology necessary to provide the experimental environment.
