The Relationship of Projectile Properties and Downrange Ballistic Flash.

Abstract

The downrange ballistic flash resulting from the perforation of aluminum plates by steel spheres and disks and by aluminum spheres and disks was investigated to determine how the flash relates to projectile composition and shape. The study focused on determining which projectile characteristics maximize the flash and its kill potential for detonating explosions and causing fires.
