Alcoholism Treatment as a Means of Prevention.

Abstract

Alcoholism treatment programs have enlarged their scope from primary patient care alone to treatment plus prevention. Prevention efforts need to be tested in a controlled fashion before large-scale programs are initiated. Treatment centers offer the opportunity for inexpensive research to find preventative methods. Recommendations are given for development and evaluation of alcoholism prevention programs.
