A Study of Department of Defense Depot Maintenance Requirements, Capabilities, and Capacities.

Abstract

The study was designed to lay the groundwork for further detailed analyses that could lead to specific actions for Department of Defense depot maintenance consolidations or realignments. The study envisioned a Department of Defense depot maintenance structure, operating at maximum efficiency consistent with the ability to respond to contingency requirements. Part I addresses how the Services determine their depot maintenance requirements, identify their capabilities, and measure their capacities--peacetime and wartime--to satisfy the requirements. Part 2 is concerned with the identification of areas for further analysis.
