The Estimation of Training Premiums for U.S. Military Personnel,

Abstract

The questions posed by this paper relate to the possible effect that military training and experience have on the civilian earnings and employment of persons who have served one term of military service. Given the extent to which military personnel are trained in occupational areas with civilian analogs, the question arises as to whether there are societal benefits to military training and experience. This is one of the issues to which the estimation of the returns to military training and experience is relevant.
