The Atlantic Defense Relationship: Core, Troubles, Prospects,

Abstract

The author examines the Atlantic Alliance which has shown a sound core and a persistent malaise from its beginnings in the early 1950s. The U.S.-West European defense relationship as it reflects this duality of essential soundness and troublesome relations is studied.
