Properties of In Situ Jointed Rock.

Abstract

Results of the research indicate that the data from the in-situ tests in jointed granite are representative of the response of a large rock mass of the same type. A large in-situ granitic block was loaded to significant stresses using flatjacks of the authors' design. For the first time in-situ static and transport properties (displacement, fluid flow, seismic velocity and electrical resistivity) were measured simultaneously as a function of stress. The experiment arrangement is shown. Load paths, including uniaxial, biaxial and proportional stress are shown.
