Chesapeake Bay Existing Conditions Report. Appendix B. The Land--Resources and Use. Volume 1.

Abstract

Volume 1 of the appendix includes chapters on the geology of the Bay Region, mineral resources, soils, land use, climate, surface water hydrology, ground water, and sedimentation. In this volume, brief overviews of the geologic provinces and mineral composition are presented. Soil cover is described as it directly affects such physical conditions as streamflow patterns, erosion, and amount and type of flood protection needed. The study area is broken down into major types of land use in order to analyze the present distribution of each.
