Hydrofoil Universal Digital Autopilot (HUDAP).

Abstract

The Hydrofoil Universal Digital Autopilot (HUDAP) Assembly was used to demonstrate the feasibility of using a digital computer as part of an autopilot assembly to control a high performance, submerged foil hydrofoil craft. This report documents the HUDAP development effort and demonstration, the conclusions reached from the development and recommendations for product improvement and expansion. In addition, the configuration of both the hardware and software used in the demonstrations, a delineation of expansion capabilities of the system, and a discussion of several real or potential problem areas are presented.
