Investigation of DF Laser Propagation

Abstract

Molecular absorption coefficients are calculated in the region of 27 important DF laser wavelengths for typical sea level conditions. The important absorption mechanisms for this region are discussed and improved modeling procedures are suggested. A series of graphs and tables clearly show the importance of individual molecular absorption lines and continua for each important DF line. Calculations and recommendations are given for White cell measurements of absorption coefficients for the H2O and N2 continuum, and HDO, N2O, CH4 and H2O line absorption at DF wavelengths.
