High-Strength, Heat-Resistant and Structural Alloys of Aluminum with Lithium

Abstract

This is chapter 7 of a book entitled Aluminum Alloys. Industrial, Deformable, Sintered and Cast Aluminum Alloys. These alloys are broken down into groups depending on their properties, use and chemical composition. This chapter deals with aluminum alloys alloyed with lithium, with lithium and cadmium, and with lithium and magnesium. Research on proportions, alloying procedures, and the resulting properties of alloys (VAD23 and 01420 alloys in particular) are discussed in detail. Data on mechanical properties at various temperatures and physical and corrosion properties of the alloys are included.
