Effective Ways of Utilizing Synthetic Slags in Steel Making,

Abstract

The article discusses the areas in which it is economically feasible to use steel treated with synthetic slag. Tests were made on steel for ball bearing steel, boilerplate steel, automobile and aviation parts, etc. The added expense of this treatment of steel is justified in the case of ball bearings and steel for the aviation industry, for diesel and tractor building, etc. In other areas such as instrument steels, non-load bearing parts etc. the additional cost is unnecessary. Dissemination of information on this type of steel to consumers is inadequate at the present time.
