Double Trip Mechanism.

Abstract

The double-trip mechanism provides a generalized two-step release operation for many oceanographic applications. The physical configuration of this messenger-actuated instrument has been dictated by the requirement that it remain correctly oriented on its lowering wire under all conditions of hauling strain imposed by attached gear. Additionally, it possesses sufficient mechanical-leverage advantages to permit actuation under very heavy loads upon comparatively light messenger-weight impact.
