Analysis of Selection Criteria and Physician Assistant Performance.

Abstract

The efficacy of a variety of selection measures in predicting successful performance in Air Force physician assistant training were investigated. The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), combined verbal and mathematics composites, could be usefully added to the existing prerequisites for entry in training. A mandatory minimum SAT score of 900 was recommended. It is of interest that the average SAT for candidates chosen for the FY 75 selection board was 1039.
