Factors Surrounding Motion Platform - Visual System Coupling in Flight Simulators

Abstract

Some of the factors affecting the behavior of motion systems and visual systems used simultaneously are considered. In particular, the flight visual - motion coupling problem is addressed, with respect to the necessary iteration rates of inputs, outputs, and the iteration rates of numerical computations. Data are presented for several OFT/WST simulators having both motion and visual systems. Conclusions and recommendations are drawn, based upon the results obtained.
