Preliminary Design of a Wind-Wave Facility for CERC,

Abstract

The report presents the basic design procedures used in developing a conceptual design for a wind-wave flume test facility. The existing state-of-the-art on air-sea interactions and general coastal and oceanographic engineering problems are reviewed. Areas are identified where technological deficiencies exists in the understanding of these processes, indicating where theoretical and experimental research is needed. Coupled with these findings a reappraisal of the mechanisms involved, the corresponding scaling requirements, and an assessment of existing facilities was conducted.
