Research on the Synthesis of Novel Compounds Absorbing in the Near Infrared Region of the Spectrum.
Abstract
Several polynuclear aromatic compounds were synthesized leading to the production of nickel complexes of sulfur-oxygen polynuclear aromatic structures. The near infrared spectral properties of the complexes were measured. The complexes were found to absorb between 1000-1600 nm. Plastic powders were prepared by incorporation of selected near infrared absorbing compounds into appropriate plastic substrates and reducing the granulated plastic-absorber structures to a particle size below 300 microns. The fine particulate matter had absorption in the region 800-1500 nm.
