A Method for the Separation of Oil from an Aqueous Oil-Detergent Solution Prior to IR Analysis. Part II.

Abstract

This report presents additional work on an analytical method for the determination of oil in water solutions in the presence of dissolved detergents. A previous report describes a method for the removal of the oil by a silica-gel treatment and the subsequent analysis of the oil in a CCl4 extract using an IR spectrophotometer. The work covered by this report is concerned with testing and improving the analytical method and working out a standard operating procedure.
