The Metric Cartographic Potential of Geostationary/Geosynchronous Satellites.

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the metric cartographic potential of a satellite camera 35,786 kms about the Earth. Major pertinent areas were investigated and reported upon. These areas include: the geosynchronous orbit, design requirements of a suitable telescopic space camera, effects of geophysical phenomena upon the imagery sensors, electronic transmission link, and accuracy requirements for maps.
