The Computation of Lens-Film System Resolution from Numerical Modulation Transfer Function Data.

Abstract

A description is given of a computer program which calculates the Cobb chart resolution of a lens-film system from numerical lens modulation transfer function data and the resolution of the film on its own, by means of a Fourier transform method with precomputed coefficients. The theoretical basis is briefly outlined and some comparisons between the computed and experimentally determined resolutions are given.
