Designing of Foil Routes,

Abstract

The task involved in foil route designing is to determine the layout of the foil conductor strips between fixedly positioned component legs and terminal contacts so that the engineering specifications are met. Engineering specifications are defined as practically all restrictions which the designing program must observe, such as the number of printed layers that may be used, the configuration of the area over which the conductor strips may pass, foil width, diameters of the soldered connections, minimum insulator gap between conductors, and the like. They also include recommendations for the configuration of the supply and ground lines (for example the shape of the combs) and for the manner in which these lines should be connected to the component legs. The main requirement for designing is that it must establish all necessary connections through foil strips.
