Passive Radar

Abstract

The basic ideas and concepts of one of the newest branches of radar, that of passive radar, are discussed. A great deal of attention is devoted to questions of the use of passive radar by the armed forces. The physical fundamentals of passive radar, and the principles on which the construction of passive radars for different purposes are based, are elucidated. Examples of target characteristics, and the very simplest of calculation methods for making an approximate assessment of the service capabilities of passive radars, are cited.
