Ignition of Military Fuels by Hot Particles
Abstract
An investigation has been conducted on the ignition of liquid hydrocarbon fuels of military interest by non-reactive heated particles. Minimum ignition temperatures of different size ignition sources have been determined for various fuels. An activation energy for ignition of diesel fuel by heated particles has been determined. Ignitions have been studied at fuel temperatures from -78C to over 200C.
