Concepts in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Abstract

This paper reviews some milestones in the development of theories on catalysis and discusses some of the more significant contemporary concepts. It also attempts to integrate the new field of electrocatalysis and particularly the field of electrocatalytic hydrocarbon oxidation with the general field of catalysis. Therefore, the chapter on heterogeneous catalytic oxidation is discussed in considerable detail while other areas of catalysis are discussed only briefly.
