New Concepts in Soil-Stabilizer Mixing.

Abstract

A new mechanical concept for mixing wet plastic clays with stabilizers, namely the centrifugal mixing method, is presented. The centrifugal mixing method pelletizes the soil which can then be coated with a stabilizer. To evaluate new concepts of mixing, various direct and indirect methods for measuring mixing quality were developed and evaluated with particular emphasis on the simplicity of the tests and their adaptability to field use. The mechanical implications of the centrifugal mixing method, power requirements and performance of the resulting stabilized soil evaluated show promise.
