Real Time Computer Based Systems.

Abstract

Developments in semi-conductor technology have made possible a new generation of computers especially designed for the aerospace environment. Typically, these computers are distinguishable from their predecessors by having a relatively small volume, dissipating relatively low power, and having a significant increase in the number of instructions that may be executed per unit of time. The Symposium was designed to familiarize the NATO scientist and engineer, both military and civilian, with the current status of research and development work in the field of computer architecture and design and the field of computer software generation; provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and viewpoints between workers in related fields; and in addition clarify and broaden the understanding of problems relating to computer-based real-time systems so that future computers will include features that more closely match high-level language requirements.
