Surface Currents Deduced from Ship Drift at the Periphery of Costa Rica Dome.

Abstract

During a drift station at the periphery of Costa Rica Dome an approximately diurnal component of the surface drift current was discovered. The mean speed of this cum sole periodic current is 8 cm/sec. The sea land breeze effects and periodic atmospheric pressure wave are given as plausible explanation for the cause of this rotary current component.
