An Analysis of Finite Element Code TORT II.

Abstract

A study is performed of the TORT 2 finite element code for the solution of axisymmetric torsion problems. Various element formulations are reviewed and recommendations for best use of the code are made. The nonvanishing of surface shears on stress free surfaces is considered. Finally, an error in the contractor supplied sample problem is examined and a rule for avoiding similar difficulties explained.
