Closed-Circuit Refueling (CCR).

Abstract

This report covers the design, development, test, and evaluation of a closed-circuit refueling nozzle and a gravity-fill adapter for use with the closed-circuit refueling nozzle. Closed-circuit refueling provides a means for mechanically attaching a fuel supply to the fuel tank of an aircraft, vehicle or other item of power equipment to be refueled. Closed-circuit refueling was developed in conjunction with the Forward Area Refueling Equipment (FARE). The versatility of closed-circuit refueling will allow the concept to be applied to a wide variety of fuel-handling operations.
