The 1972 Westover Air Force Base Food Preference Survey and Reliability Study

Abstract

Food preference data from Fort Lewis, Washington and Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts were compared to determine differences and similarities. Correlations between Army and Air Force preference data were r = 0.96 (frequency scale), and r = 0.92 (hedonic scale). The survey form was evaluated for reliability by means of a test/retest correlation statistic. The survey proved to be quite reliable in terms of food correlations (r = 0.98) and somewhat less reliable in terms of individual correlations (r = 0.60 and 0.58).
