Parameters Influencing the Properties of Brittle Coatings.
Abstract
A summary of 34 of the 40 major parameters that influence the properties of the lacquer-type brittle coatings is presented. The studies of the parameters were conducted primarily during the 1940's and early 1950's by Durelli and co-workers under his direction. A few of the major parameters are discussed. Experimental data related to reformulated Stresscoat and a new commercial brittle coating called Tens-Lac are shown. Some recommended procedures are given for obtaining optimum brittle coating data as suggested from the parametric studies.
