Implementation of a Mini-Computer Based Information System. Part XVIII. A General File Dump Program for the Varian 620 Computer.

Abstract

The implementation of a mini-computer based information system requires the development of a convenient, easy-to-use systems program, which can aid the operator or programmer in diagnosing programming bugs or machine failures. This memorandum presents a multipurpose utility program called the Tape Dump and Utility Monitor (TDUM) program which is tailored around the data analysis requirements at DSIS, but would be advantageous to any installation which has a Varian computer and external storage equipment. TDUM is written in Varian DAS assembler language and requires the Varian Master Operating System package. The program currently performs many diverse functions and this report examines the purpose and logic behind the various TDUM routines. Flowcharts and examples of input requests and various types of output dumps are included.
