TRI-TAC Technology Forecast.
Abstract
The report presents the documentation of interviews, a literature review, and technology forecasts which relate to the state-of-the-art of military tactical communication systems for the 1975-1980 time frame. The interviews were conducted at various Government laboratories and selected industry facilities. Technical areas for which forecasts were made include microelectronics, computers/switching, satellite subsystems, optical communication, power sources, RF power generation, and information processing. Most technological projections that are documented have been obtained from the interview and literature sources. Independent assessment and forecasting have been limited to assessing the impact of rapidly improving technologies on the development of future tactical military communication equipment.
