Determination of Ship Motions and Hydrodynamic Pressure Impacts on the Bow Sheave Support of the MSC Cable and Repair Ship (ARC).

Abstract

Through the use of theoretical prediction techniques and experimental investigations, it is possible to foresee problems which may be encountered in the operation of a new ship design such as the cable layer and repair ship of the Military Sealift Command (MSC). The new design encompasses a massive bow sheave support which will experience water impacts in sea states larger than State 4. Presented are the techniques used and the results determined.
