Korean Hemorrhagic Fever.

Abstract

Korean hemorrhagic fever (KHF) was noticed initially in 1951, although it has been known previously to the Japanese and Russians. After the Korean war, it was designated as endemic in the demilitarized zone, and approximately 100 to 400 cases reported annually. This study objectives are (1) epidemiologic investigation in civilian endemic areas, (2) isolation of the causative agent, (3) and demonstration of specific antibodies by fluorescent antibody techniques. The outbreak of the disease had been localized within the DMZ until 1970, but noted that it had invaded the Southern areas of the Korean pennisula since 1971.
