Availability Parameters Allocation When the Repair Times are a Function of the Experience Factor.

Abstract

This report makes the assumption that the times to repair the components of a system behave as predicted by experience curve theory, and it describes a method for allocating the availability parameters (repair times, and failure rates) to the various components that make up a system. The allocating procedure is handled as an availability maximization problem, subject to the constraint that the number of component failures are equal to the number of system failures. A Lagrange multiplier technique is employed to obtain the solution.
