Seasonal Critical Depth Charts and Deep Sound Channel Interference for the Oceans and Seas of the Northern Hemisphere.

Abstract

The report describes the temporal and spatial variation of the bottom of the deep sound channel for the oceans and seas of the northern hemisphere and the extent that the ocean floor interferes with this channel. The distribution of the sound speed data and the development of the critical depth isopleths and topographic interference charts are described. An appendix consisting of sound speeds at 1000-meter intervals for northern hemisphere five-degree ocean areas is included.
