Towards Shorter Wavelength Lasers and Breaking the 1000 Angstrom Barrier-III (Recombination)

Abstract

The physics of recombination in a multi-ionized and dense plasma is discussed. Emphasis is given to such a medium as a potential source for VUV and x-ray lasers. Results of some model calculations for hydrogen and C(+5) (lamda = 34 A) are presented.
