Mechanisms of Thermal Decomposition of Stored Materials.

Abstract

The report discusses the conditions and mechanisms of thermal decomposition of XXCC-3 a clothing impregnant used to protect military personnel from vesicant gases. XXCC-3 is a mixture of ZnO and Symdichlorobis(2, 4, 6 trichlorophenyl)urea. Thermal analysis, spectra, and solubility studies are discussed in light of the reported spontaneous combustion of kits containing this compound.
