Identification of the Optimal Control Model for the Human Operator.

Abstract

The optimal control model concept appears attractive for modeling human operator behavior in a variety of tasks. However, no successful method has existed in the past for estimating the human operator model parameters from experimental data. Forced attempts at identification have failed because some of the model parameters are not identifiable. In this report, the optimal control model is analyzed with the system identification point of view to determine which parameters can be identified. As a result, a systematic procedure for the identification of the optimal control model parameters from measured experimental data has been developed. This procedure is validated by application to experimental human operator data.
