Stimulated Collective Scattering from a Magnetized Relativistic Electron Stream.

Abstract

The scattering of an electromagnetic pump wave, of frequency (omega sub 0), from a cold relativistic magnetized electron beam is analyzed. The scattered waves consist of collective plasma oscillations as well as electromagnetic waves. The frequency of the scattered electromagnetic wave is doppler shifted up twice and is of order (gamma squared) (omega sub 0). Enhanced growth rates for the scattering process can be obtained by cyclotron resonance effects.
